1992: Dox Miss N Reno

Dox Miss N RenoCountdown to the 50th Futurity

Dox Miss N Reno, a $19,500 purchase at the NCHA Preferred Breeders Sale, collected $105,000 when she marked 219 to win the 1992 NCHA Futurity with Russ Miller. Stan and Lynne Warren of Layton, Utah, owned the mare.

Eventual Horse of the Year Little Badger Dulce finished half a point away in second.

Bred by Mary Jo Reno, Dox Miss N Reno is by Miss N Cash out of Palmoa Quixote, who finished third in the 1980 NCHA Futurity under Larry Reeder.

“She was a little tough to train,” said Miller. “But I felt her coming around to being the good horse I thought she could be about forty days before the Futurity.”

We’ll look at the past NCHA Futurity champions each day through December 9. Read the full story in Cutting Horse Gold: 50 Years of the NCHA Futurity by Sally Harrison.
